CIP systems

In plants that work under food-grade or similar hygiene requirements, manual cleaning, which is bacteriologically inadequate and time-consuming, has given way to modern technological solutions. One of the most practical and efficient of these is CIP, or "clean-in-place". In a CIP system hygiene is achieved by circulating rinse water and detergent solution through the production line, with no need to dismantle machinery and equipment as manual cleaning does.

CIP systems

Project process

  1. 1Process requirements and basic engineering
  2. 2Detail engineering and fabrication drawings
  3. 3Fabrication and testing in Türkiye
  4. 4Installation, piping and commissioning on site
  5. 5Documentation hand-over

Because the cleaning liquid moves through the interconnected equipment and machines that form a closed circuit, the line can be cleaned (sanitised) in place before and after production. Makfen CIP systems are applied with particular success to long pipe runs and large-volume tanks, and they play an important part in solving specific hygiene problems not only in the dairy industry but also in soft drinks, carbonated beverages and ready-to-eat foods.

Advantages of a CIP system

  • It cuts costs by using water, detergent and energy as efficiently as possible.
  • The plant runs more efficiently, with minimal lost time.
  • It saves a great deal of labour, because tools and equipment do not have to be dismantled and reassembled.
  • It is more comfortable and safer for staff: nobody has to enter a tank or handle detergents and disinfectants.
  • It allows more hygienic operation. The cleaning programme can be followed fully and effectively, with no risk of recontamination.

When Makfen installs CIP systems to your requirements, it does more than design the system: it engineers projects that are environmentally sound and compatible with their surroundings. Makfen values nature and the health of living things, and the innovative steps it has taken have produced effective solutions that raise the performance of the systems it builds while helping to reduce or prevent their environmental impact. The Makfen team treats environmental factors as design parameters of a CIP system and carries out the whole turnkey installation: engineering, fabrication, assembly, instrumentation, piping, insulation, electrical installation, performance testing and commissioning.
